Information

Soil Ecosystem Pathology is the study of the complex interactions in the rhizosphere between plant and plant-associated organisms with emphasis on promotion of plant health. Major research interests include the measurement and management of the antagonistic potential in the soil. In addition, promotion of organisms or groups of organisms beneficial for plant health are investigated in detail for their biological control potential. The research program includes major crops of global interest including rice, maize, wheat, barley, banana, potato, and sugar beet.

The group is internationally linked into the Masters program "Agricultural Science and Resource-Management in the Tropics and Subtropics" (ARTS). A number of masters and Ph. D. students are conductiong their research work in cooperation with International Centers in Brazil, France, Kenya, Syria, Uganda and the US.
